Andrew Lewis is a partner at KPMG LLP, and is based in the Washington, DC office. KPMG LLP (KPMG) is one of the world’s largest professional services firms, providing audit, tax, and consulting services to some of the largest and most complex organizations in the world. Andrew has nearly 30 years of experience working with numerous Federal government agencies and performing financial statement audits, attestation services, reviews, and accounting and advisory services.
Andrew has regularly given back to the government industry through leadership roles in a variety of public sector professional organizations. Most recently, Andrew serves as the chair of the Certificate of Excellence in Accountability Reporting board of the Association of Government Accountants (AGA). He has previously served in the AGA as the national treasurer, national governing board member, national finance committee member, co-chair of the national leadership committee, regional vice president, and president of the Montgomery/Prince George’s County chapter. In addition, Andrew served as the chair of the Federal Issues and Standards Committee with the Greater Washington Society of CPAs.
Andrew served as an adjunct professor for 12 years. He taught two different graduate courses on government and not-for-profit accounting and auditing in the Master of Accountancy program at The George Washington University (GWU). Andrew currently serves on the GWU School of Business Board of Advisors and the Accountancy Program’s Advisory Council.
Andrew is a passionate supporter of foster care and adoption. Andrew launched the KPMG National Foster Care and Adoption Network in 2021, which has now grown to more than 45 of KPMG’s US offices. Focused initially on mentoring and coaching opportunities for new and prospective foster and adoptive parents, the network has grown to serve as a platform for connecting foster and adoptive parents, adult adoptees, birth parents, and adoption advocates. The network also connects with key community organizations that focus on foster and adoption and are actively supported by KPMG’s partners and employees.
Andrew has received numerous awards and recognition, including Seramount’s National Working Dad of the Year, and the Association of Government Accountants’ Andy Barr Award, National President’s Award, National Treasurer’s Award, and National Author’s Award.
Andrew and his wife are adoptive parents and former foster parents. They have three children, and live in Maryland.
