Childhood Development through the Lens of Adoption
Understanding childhood development is important for professionals that provide support to parents who have already adopted and/or are hoping to adopt. While there is a typical pattern of childhood development, adopted children may not follow this pattern, especially if they have special health care needs. This session will help agency personnel and other adoption professionals understand some of these unique developmental challenges. We will use case-based scenarios to highlight the importance of caring for children through an adoption lens when navigating adoptees’ medical and social needs.
