Genie Gillespie, JD

Genie Gillespie, JD has had her own practice in Chicago since 2001, concentrating exclusively in adoption, guardianship, assisted reproductive technology and other children and families issues. She was President of the AAAA from 2020 to 2022 and is an Illinois Leading Lawyer and Super Lawyer in adoption and assisted reproductive technology. In 2016, she was recognized as an Angel in Adoption by CCAI. She has served as a guardian ad litem attorney, co-founder and Legal Services Director for the Center for Law and Social Work, the Director of the ABA Child Custody and Adoption Pro Bono Project and chair of the Chicago Bar Association Adoption Law Committee twice. She has written numerous adoption law training materials, and has spoken at numerous adoption seminars for attorneys, agencies, foster parents and prospective adoptive parents.
