FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE
April 24, 2026 – Alexandria, VA – National Council For Adoption (NCFA) is excited to share that Jane Castanias is stepping into the role of Chair of the Board of Directors, effective May 1, 2026.
Ms. Castanias, an adoptive parent, is a longtime advocate for children's issues. Following her retirement as an attorney for Jones Day, she has served as a Court Appointed Special Advocate, volunteer and Board Chair for RESOLVE, the National Infertility and Family Building Association, in addition to her service on the Board of the National Council for Adoption.
The Board of Directors has also elected these new and returning board members for a two-year term:
- Chair Elect: Eric Curtis. Mr. Curtis is the Managing Partner and CEO of Curtis Strategy, a non-profit consulting firm. An adoptee based in Massachusetts, Mr. Curtis brings extensive experience in organizational strategy and has previously served as NCFA’s Secretary.
- Vice Chair: Kate Trambitskaya. Ms. Trambitskaya, the CEO of Spence-Chapin Services to Families and Children, was re-elected as Vice Chair.
- Vice Chair: Michele Jackson. Ms. Jackson joins the executive leadership team as Vice Chair. She brings a wealth of expertise in adoption law and policy, most recently as a founding partner at Harden Jackson, LLC and the CEO of MLJ Adoptions (now Nightlight Christian Adoptions).
- Treasurer: Kyle Clark. Mr. Clark, the Vice President of Finance and Administration at Florida State University, was re-elected as Treasurer.
- Secretary: Andrew Lewis. Joining the executive committee as Secretary, Mr. Lewis brings his experience as a partner at KPMG LLP, where he launched the KPMG National Foster Care and Adoption Network. He is also an adoptive and former foster parent.
These changes mark the conclusion of the valued service and leadership of Andrea Vavonese, who has served as Chair of the Board since 2024.
"Andrea's leadership through a transformational time in NCFA's history has been inspirational, and has been defined by her forward-thinking clarity of purpose," said Ms. Castanias. "I look forward to the challenge of meeting her high standards for always moving NCFA forward towards our mission of supporting the entire adoption community and ensuring that every child can thrive in a loving, permanent family."
