National Council For Adoption Announces New Communications Initiative and Leadership Gift
ALEXANDRIA, Va. – National Council For Adoption, the nation’s leading adoption advocacy and research organization, is pleased to announce a leadership investment from Dr. Wayne W. Sharp and Mrs. Linda Whitbeck Sharp.
Mr. and Mrs. Sharp’s generous multi-year commitment will launch Adoption Advocacy in Action, a three-year strategic communications initiative that shines a light on adoption’s successes, addresses its most pressing challenges, and illuminates a path for its future.
Their gift of $100,000 will allow NCFA to invest in communication staffing, technology, coalition-building and media outreach.
“For me, being adopted by loving parents was the springboard for an amazing life,” said Wayne. “My wife Linda and I have chosen to invest in this project in order to spread the word to encourage more families to consider the loving option of adoption.”
Wayne is NCFA’s chairman emeritus and ambassador for adoption, having served for twenty years as a volunteer assisting with NCFA’s international advocacy work. He also served on NCFA’s Board of Directors for fifteen years, including consecutive terms as board chair.
“We are so grateful for Wayne and Linda’s incredible dedication to NCFA and the cause of adoption. They have been instrumental in designing this project, and will continue to be involved in a hands-on way,” said Andrea Vavonese, NCFA board chair. “Wayne has been so intentional over the years in working to find solutions so that children have permanent, loving homes.”
